On Monday, 25/10/2010 the event "Flood risk management for Central Europe - the CENTRAL EUROPE project LABEL" took place at the euregia fair. The event has attracted considerable interest.

The participants were given an overview to the new challenges for flood risk management at the Elbe: first, the natural conditions, such as changing discharge conditions of the Elbe, are altered due to climate change. Second, the EU Flood Risk Management Directive sets up new requirements for risk management. Both aspects were highlighted by the speakers in short lectures.

The need to adapt to flood risks became clear. Here, not only the water sector is addressed: three project partners from LABEL presented their contributions to the regional adaptation of spatial planning, tourism and shipping.
