The project LABEL is based on the results of the INTERREG III B project ELLA, which provided flood hazard maps and a basic action plan for future flood mitigation. LABEL aims at implementing selected actions to improve methods and instruments of flood risk management in the Labe-Elbe catchment and in adjacent river basins. This includes the standardization of methods, standards and instruments as well as awareness-raising and the adaptation of land uses in different sections.
The following transnational goals of the project LABEL are of great importance to both central Europe and the Labe-Elbe river basin:
- Common strategy for the standardization of risk management systems and instruments;
- Recommendations for the implementation of flood risk maps in spatial planning, taking into account the pollution problem;
- Custom calculations and preparation of flood maps and risk maps visualized with water levels;
- Development of a transnational strategy for climate / flood risk-adjusted development (selected sectors, e.g. tourism, shipping);
- An international partnership for flood protection: local exchange and formation of a joint panel of experts;
- Exemplary implementation of the developed results in pilot studies.
To achieve these results all project partners are involved in the processing. For certain aims focuses are laid on different regions.
